1st Lab Rotation

After spending almost half a year on our Special Studies, we've finally reached the point of editing the paper for the FINAL BOUND COPY! *Allelujah!* It means that were only 3 months away from receiving that rolled piece of paper tied in a ribbon on our graduation day! Hehehe...

But there's still left to do: Lab Rotation at PGH and Field Work in Pila, Laguna.

Yesterday, we started the lab rotations and fortunately, Nicie is my assigned partner. At least, madaldal siya, medyo tahimik ako... Balanse ang samahan... :D Our first department was at the Clinical Chemistry Section of PGH's Central Lab where we spent 6 hours (1p-7p) doing the following:

1. Collecting test tubes of blood (serum/plasma), CSF and pleural fluid specimens for analyses.

2. Writing the names and analyses requested for a patient in a log book.

3. Putting the specimens in a very vintage (sosyal!) centrifuge and while waiting, encoding the necessary information in the Dimension AR machine (harhar! adik!).

4. Micro-pipeting the serum into the tiny cuvettes and afterwards putting it in the machine.

5. Syempre, habang nag-iintay ng mga panibagong specimens, nakikipagdaldalan muna kina Sir Chris (who happened to be a contestant on the 1st season of Philippne Idol.. O dava, sosyal!) at Mam Irish (a RMT from UST, taking post-grad in PGH) *At kelangan talaga Tag-lish... Haha! Feeling close!

*Parang clin chem lab manual ito.. Step by step ang activities... hehe*

*Napaka-sabog ng post na to... Basta makapag-post lang... Haha...*

Next stop: Immunopathology Section (CL)... Kamusta naman? 8am ang start ng "duty", hindi pa ko natutulog!
